The AFL has released the fixture for the 2027 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, and footy fans have plenty to look forward to at Optus Stadium.

A historic Round 1

For the first time ever, both Perth teams will play home matches in Round 1. Fremantle kick things off against the Western Bulldogs on Thursday 18 March, before West Coast open their season against the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday 21 March.

Massive start for the Minor Premiers

As 2026 Minor Premiers, Fremantle have a huge opening ten rounds at Optus Stadium, including:

  • Their annual Good Friday match against the Adelaide Crows in Round 2
  • The first Western Derby of the season in Round 5
  • Anzac Day night’s Len Hall Tribute Game against St Kilda
  • A Grand Final replay against the Brisbane Lions in Round 8

The Dockers’ run home is just as big, with Collingwood visiting in Round 20 before Fremantle close out their season against the Sydney Swans in Round 24. It’s the only time the two sides meet in 2027.

Eagles ready to build

West Coast will be looking to build on a promising 2026 season, with fans treated to matches against competition heavyweights Collingwood (Round 7), Sydney (Round 9) and Carlton (Round 12).

The back half of the season is packed with high-profile clashes too, including the second Western Derby in Round 19 and a Round 23 match against Hawthorn.

Dreamtime at Maali and more

Optus Stadium will also host the highly anticipated Dreamtime at Maali on Sunday 4 July 2027, the first year of a two-year partnership with Essendon and Richmond.

North Melbourne will also return to WA for their two-week stint, taking on Fremantle at Optus Stadium in Round 12 and playing West Coast in Bunbury.
